Project Details:
The Darkes Rd Culvert was a short but very interesting job which was completed within budget and on time. The culvert consists of a cast in situ reinforced concrete base slab with 3 cells of 1.8m(H)x1.8m(W)x1.2m(L) precast culverts, at an approximate overall length of 17m.
The primary objective of this project was to repair the defects in the culvert and strengthen the structure to bring it in line with current design standards. It is expected that, as a result of this work, the culverts life is extended, structural integrity is maintained and the structure remains safe and serviceable for continued use into the future
Works comprise of:
- Complex environmental measures and documentation
- Mobilising site compound daily
- Over pumping and water diversion
- Soffit Reinforcement installation
- Concrete rehabilitation
- Grit blasting
- Shotcreting
There were many difficulties between the location of the work and conducting work in an ecologically sensitive area, but as always, the works were successfully competed with 100% safety record.
